Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are safe for both cats and dogs. There is always a small chance that a pet could have a reaction to a vaccine, but the benefits far outweigh any potential risks. Our veterinarian will provide you with instructions for monitoring your pet following vaccination.

Which Vaccines Does My Pet Need?

Pet vaccines are split into two categories called core and non-core vaccines. Core vaccines include those that are required by local laws and/or recommended for all pets. Non-core vaccines include those that, while not required by law, are recommended on a case-by-case basis

At Sage Creek Animal Hospital, we go above and beyond to get to know our patients and provide them with the highest level of personalized care available. We’ll work with you to determine which vaccines are necessary to protect your pet based on your pet’s individual lifestyle and exposure risk.

When to Vaccinate Your Pet

Cats and dogs receive their first doses of vaccinations between six weeks and three months of age. During the first year of life, kittens and puppies are set up with a more frequent schedule of appointments to ensure they receive all of their vaccinations and booster shots as necessary to establish a solid foundation of immunity.
Adult dogs and cats typically require ongoing booster shots every one to three years depending on the type of vaccinations administered. Our veterinarians will discuss the proper schedule for your pet during your pet’s wellness examinations.
