5 Refreshing Summer Treats for Your Pet

1. Ice Water

If you’re short on time, you can turn your dog’s regular dish of water into a fun treat by simply adding a few ice cubes. Your pup will enjoy crunching the ice cubes, and they’ll keep the water cooler for longer.

2. Frozen Fruit

Frozen fruits in bite-safe sizes for your dog can be a great treat during the summer. You can freeze fruits like watermelon, banana, strawberries, or blueberries. Just be sure you choose fruits that are safe for your dog to eat. Several kinds of fruit are toxic for pets, and any fruit with a pit is a choking hazard.

3. Dog-Safe Ice Cream

Regular ice cream that’s made for people is not safe for dogs to eat. However, you can make your dog their own dog-safe ice cream with relative ease. Simply add banana, a little plain yogurt, and peanut butter (xylitol-free) to a blender. Puree the mixture until it’s smooth. Pour it into an ice cube tray or candy mould and freeze.

4. Frozen Kong

Add your pet’s favourite mixture of treats and xylitol-free peanut butter to their Kong toy and pop it in the freezer before playtime.

5. Frozen Toy Cake

Place a few of your pet’s favourite small toys into a large baking dish or container. Cover them with water and freeze. Then turn the giant toy-filled ice cube out in your backyard.
